Root cause analysis
Finding why a problem happened, not just what happened.
Root cause analysis looks past the symptom (a wrong payment) to the underlying reason (no validation in the vendor master file), so the recommendation fixes the problem for good.
On the exam
Recommendations that fix the cause beat those that fix one instance. In a finding, the cause is the element that explains why the condition exists.
