Human in the loop

A person reviews or can override an AI system’s decisions.

AAIA

For high-impact decisions, human review of AI outputs (especially adverse ones) before they take effect reduces the risk of harmful automated decisions. The reviewer needs the authority, time and information to disagree.

On the exam

For high-impact decisions, human review before the decision is final is usually the best control.
